Terms of service

The agreement between you and travelwithmiru. Written to be read, if anything here is unclear, ask us and we'll explain it rather than point at a clause.

Last reviewed 9 August 2026

These terms apply when you buy an eSIM data plan or a gift card from travelwithmiru. Buying something means you accept them.

Who you are dealing with

travelwithmiru is operated by Matteo Jansens, trading as TravelWithMiru, registered in Belgium under enterprise number 1037.772.217, with its registered office at Vremdesteenweg 18, 2160 Wommelgem, Belgium. You can reach us at support@travelwithmiru.com.

What we sell

A prepaid mobile data plan delivered as an eSIM, a digital SIM profile you install on a compatible device. We are a reseller: the underlying network capacity is provided by our wholesale partner and their roaming agreements with local operators.

Each plan states its data allowance, its validity in days, and the countries it covers. Those three things are the entirety of what you are buying. We do not provide phone numbers, calls or SMS.

Your device must be compatible

An eSIM only works on a device that supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked. Both are your responsibility to check before buying, see our device list. A plan bought for an incompatible or locked device has not failed; it simply cannot be installed. If you have not installed it, the refund policy below still covers you.

When a plan starts

Validity begins when the eSIM first uses data, not when you buy it, not when you install it, and not when your phone merely connects to a network. Buying weeks ahead costs you nothing, and installing early costs you nothing: as long as data roaming stays off for the miru line, the clock has not started.

Data only flows where your plan has coverage, so in practice the clock starts once you land and switch data roaming on.

Once activated, the validity period runs continuously in calendar days until it expires. It does not pause when you are not using data.

Data allowances and speed

A plan with a fixed allowance stops working when the allowance is used or the validity expires, whichever comes first. Unused data is not refunded and does not carry over.

Where a plan is described as unlimited, there are two numbers, both shown on the plan before you buy. The first is a throttle: past it, data continues at a reduced speed. The second is a hard ceiling: at that point the data stops until the plan is renewed. So "unlimited" means unlimited within the ceiling, at full speed only up to the throttle. It does not mean unlimited high-speed data, and it does not mean data that never stops.

Actual speeds depend on the local network, where you are and how busy the mast is. We cannot guarantee a particular speed, and no honest reseller can.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in euro. Where the site displays another currency it is a convenience conversion; the charge is made in euro and your bank sets the rate. Payment is handled by Stripe, we never see or store your card details.

All prices are final. travelwithmiru operates under the Belgian small business exemption scheme (article 56bis of the VAT Code), so no VAT is charged and none is shown separately. Invoices carry the statement "Bijzondere vrijstellingsregeling kleine ondernemingen".

Account credit and cashback

Credit can be spent on any eSIM at checkout. It never expires, and it is not transferable or exchangeable for cash. Cashback is credited on what you actually pay by card, not on the portion covered by existing credit.

If we refund an order that was paid partly or wholly with credit, the credit portion returns to your account and the card portion to your card.

Gift cards

A gift card is redeemed into a travelwithmiru wallet as credit. Larger denominations include bonus credit, the total shown before you pay is what the recipient receives.

Gift card credit never expires and can be spent across several trips. It cannot be exchanged for cash, and bonus credit is not refundable in cash. A gift card code is shown once, in the delivery email; treat it like money and keep the email.

Your right to change your mind

As an EU consumer you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. Because an eSIM is digital content delivered immediately, you are asked at checkout to consent to that immediate delivery and to acknowledge that doing so ends the 14-day right once delivery has begun.

This does not reduce what we actually offer, which is more generous: an unactivated plan is refundable in full for 30 days, and a plan that activated but could not get you online is refundable regardless. The full detail is in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

Fair use

Our plans are for personal travel use. We may suspend or refuse service for activity that is illegal, that resells our capacity, or that is automated at a scale no traveller produces. We will tell you why, and refund unused value where the fault was not deliberate.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for delivering a working eSIM matching what you bought, and for refunding you where we cannot. If something is our fault, we fix it or refund it.

We are not responsible for consequences beyond the service itself, a missed booking, a lost fare, a business cost, arising from a network outage, a device problem, or coverage that is worse than expected in a particular spot. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the affected plan. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published when you bought. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

Please contact us first, most things are settled in one email. If we cannot resolve it, EU consumers can use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform, and you may also complain to the Belgian consumer mediation service.
